Deadline: Monday 3rd September 2018
Makers and craftspeople are invited to apply to exhibit at the Europe Handicraft Week 2019 in Kuwait. Organised by World Crafts Council Asia Pacific Region (WCC-APR), in collaboration with the National Council for Culture, Arts & Letters (NCCAL) and hosted by the Government of Kuwait this exhibition will take place during the 25th Qurain Festival, 2019.
The Kuwait government are funding up to 18 makers to have a stall and participate in an exhibition as part of the festival. Please note that makers will be expected to travel to Kuwait and exhibit/sell their work for the duration of the festival (4-5 days).
After receiving applications the WCC Europe board will review and make recommendations to WCC-APR. Makers work should be of high quality for exhibition and also suitable for sale. While it is hoped that this will be a commercial opportunity for all involved, WCCE cannot guarantee sales performances.
Craft disciplines can include:
- Stone, marble etc.
- Textiles: weaving, embroidery, crochet, etc.
Only one artisan will be chosen from each country as selected by the WCC Europe Board Members. This selection process will be based on quality of work and skill, and an overall representation of different craft disciplines. A photo and dimensions of the piece are to be submitted for judging.
The exhibition will bring together a vast range of materials and disciplines to showcase some of the finest forms of workmanship taking place across Europe and on a global scale. It is an excellent opportunity to increase recognition and visibility for makers, craftspeople and artisans and to promote high-calibre work internationally.
Artisans will be present throughout the event to engage with visitors and demonstrate their skill. Visitors will be given the opportunity to observe first-hand the care and skill involved in creating each object through live demonstrations.
