EACD 2024 – Little Fingers, Expert Hands

On the European Artistic Crafts Days, the event organized in various European countries to draw the attention of the general public to artistic professions and Master Craftspeople, and which will take place in the week from 2 to 7 April 2024, Artex, in collaboration with UniCoop Firenze, offers a calendar full of events throughout the Tuscan territory and online. The project develops in Tuscany the initiative originally born in France in 2002 and promoted by INMA – Institut National des Metiers d’Art in Paris, which every year proposes the European Days of Art Crafts, dedicated from time to time to a theme specific. In 2012 the event took on a European dimension and Artex joined the initiative by choosing to work with the Master Craftsmen recognized by the Tuscany Region, to give visibility to these figures. In 2023 Artex assumed the role of coordinator of the initiatives carried out by other entities at a national level, spreading Italian activities through targeted communication actions.

The theme of 2024 is the transmission of knowledge from expert hands to small hands, the hands of the artisans of the future. In the week from 2 to 7 April, throughout the Tuscan territory, the Master Craftsmen will hold workshops, organize extraordinary openings and visits to the workshop. Furthermore, five free practical workshops will be held on Saturday 6 April at Officina Creativa by Artex, in Via Giano della Bella 20, in Florence. Aimed at children (aged 16 and over) and adults, these workshops are conducted by Master Craftsmen and have the aim of bringing new generations and the general public closer to artistic craftsmanship, to better understand the values that a handmade object, artfully made, brings with it. The laboratory activities will have a limited number of places, therefore booking is necessary.
