On the 18th February 2021, WCC Europe hosted a webinar for the public and its members. This webinar featured a presentation from the Michelangelo Foundation on the Homo Faber guide and event (due to take place in 2021). The Michelangelo Foundation’s mission is to celebrate and preserve master craftsmanship, and for this reason it has created a European map and exhibition, of the most significant representatives in this field, with the aim of connecting all its protagonists: artisans, designers, gallery owners, art curators, collectors and enthusiasts of high-quality handmade pieces.
We also had a presentation on the European Arts and Crafts Days and the changes to the programme in light of COVID-19. The European Artistic Crafts Days, is a unique event in the world in favour of better recognition of the crafts sector. This year, EACD will take place from April 6 to 11, 2021! Each year in the early spring, crafts studios open their doors to the public and outdoor demonstrations are held with the participation of craftspeople, training schools and museums. This initiative of the Institut National des Métiers d’Art has now become the first international event dedicated to crafts.
Finally, the LOEWE FOUNDATION presented on the fourth edition of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, due to take place in Spring 2021, and the upcoming call for submissions. The annual Craft Prize was launched by the LOEWE FOUNDATION in 2016 to celebrate excellence and innovation in modern craftsmanship, and recognise artists whose talent, vision and innovation promise to set a new standard for the future.
