Applications are open for staff of WCCE member organisations and associates of our network to apply for the 2023 Knowledge Exchange Programme. The opportunity is now in its 2nd edition and is linked to our annual conference’s core theme, which this year was “Crafting the Future: New Skills & Opportunities for Craft“.
The programme acts as an extension of the conference, providing a short residency opportunity for delegates from within our network, to gather and further engage with a topic related to the conference.
There will be two residencies this year – the first one took place in Stockholm and applications are open for the second one, taking place from 6-8 November in the Netherlands (Rotterdam) in partnership with our member organisation, the Crafts Council Nederland.
The theme of the programme is focussed on education and skills development in craft, for young people in particular. What is happening in craft education in your country? What policies and curricula are in place? What are the implications of craft and practical creative skills disappearing from education? Join in and discuss!
We are able to select 10 delegates to attend – these can be directors or members of staff from member organisations, or other relevant stakeholders from our network. Preferably one person per organisation can be chosen to participate with travel, accommodation and meals covered by the programme.
Delegates are then required to take their learnings from the experience back to their local context and disseminate among at least 6 other people. This could take the form of a talk, a workshop, an online session or something else creative that will enable a further sharing of the knowledge and insights gained.
If you have an interest in participating in the programme while contributing your perspectives on the youth education in craft, then please feel free to apply or encourage your associates to apply.
The basic tentative programme is as follows:
6 November | Arrival of participants in Rotterdam & group dinner
7 November | Working Session: sharing best practices and exchanging ideas of approaches and methodologies of craft education & visit to the Willem de Kooning Academy.
8 November | Work together towards a European framework for craft education
We will be joined by Nicky Dewar, president of WCCE and Learning & Skills Director at Crafts Council UK.
You can apply via the form → HERE.
Applications will be open until the 15th of October and we will notify selected participants within a few days of that deadline.
We will be selecting participants based on their motivation and relevance toward the topic.
Kindly note that the entire programme takes place in English.
