The Toyama International Glass Exhibition 2021 is an international, open-submission triennial competition that showcases the outstanding works of contemporary glass art from around the world. It is held at the Toyama Glass Art museum, which shares its mission is to support breakthroughs in creative expression. This competition is the second in a series started in 2018, when there were 1,110 entries from 46 countries.
Contemporary glass art, in which art is used as a material for artistic expression, grew out of new art movements in Czechoslovakia in the 1950s and the United States in the 1960s. In the twenty-first century, its range of expression has expanded, making it an artistic genre with infinite potential.
This exhibition will showcase new perspectives in this form of artistic expression and offer a new opportunity to establish Toyama, the Glass Art City, as a global center for glass art.
