Following the WCCE Annual Conference – Crafting the Future: ‘Skills for the Next Generation of Craftspeople’, held in Lisbon on June 29th 2022, WCCE offers its members and stakeholders the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding on the topics that were presented there, in the form of two residency opportunities.

These 3 day residencies are aimed at those that are interested in reproducing in their own area of competence, the practices and concepts presented in Lisbon. This full immersion format combines theoretical approaches and local visits to both delve deeper into the topic, and to better understand the characteristics of craftsmanship in that precise place.

WCCE will cover travel and accommodation costs for 10 participants each for the following 2 residencies:


New Competences for the Future Craftspeople

February 8th-10th

In return, those attending the Knowledge Exchange Residency will commit to disseminating the learning outcomes to at least 6 local, relevant, people or organisations. With the aim to share this knowledge in order to apply it in the future.

A report on this dissemination will be sent 2 months after the residency, to the WCCE Secretariat.


Participant’s Profile

Attendees should be those persons in charge as well as trainers and mentors of developing training programs for the crafts sector; whether they are technical schools, colleges, universities, training centres in both the public and private spheres. They may also be responsible for promoting continuous training in craft centres.

They should be able to transmit and apply the knowledge acquired during the residencies into their work practice and be shared among their community.

Note that participants should arrive the evening before the starting date of the programme.
