In light of the current situation regarding COVID-19, we want to send a message of support to all our members, makers and craftspeople. These are worrying times for all of us, and particularly the creative sector, but we are determined to continue to support and champion craft and its values.

WCC Europe is implementing precautions in response to the outbreak of COVID-19, and adhering to the policy and advice of the World Health Organization (WHO) to prevent the possible spread of infection and to protect and ensure the well-being of our members. As a result of this, we have taken the decision to postpone our annual General Assembly, which was scheduled to take place in June 2020 in Lisbon, Portugal. We will keep members updated as soon as we have further information and a new date for the event.

The board of WCC Europe has also taken the decision to delay membership invoices for 2020 until later in the year. We hope that this small step will reduce any burdens for members that are struggling financially, during this difficult time.

Now, more than ever, it is important to stay connected and we hope all members will stay in touch via email, the website or through our social media – Facebook and Instagram. So far, we have over 1,000 signatures to support our ‘Crafting Europe Manifesto’. We would welcome your help in sharing this manifesto with your own followers, to ensure that we raise awareness about the importance of the craft sector. We would also love to hear from you and to share any digital content you have that could inspire and connect with our audiences around the world, during this difficult time.

In the meantime, please stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all again very soon.

Take care,

Louise, Elisa, Laura, Marion, Aude and Shauna
